Casa da Viña

A vineyard holiday home for four in Ribeira Sacra, overlooking the Miño Valley.

The Story

A village school, reborn among the vineyards

High on a slope in Nogueira de Ramuín, where the terraced vineyards of Ribeira Sacra fall toward the Miño, stands an old village schoolhouse. For generations it taught the children of the hamlet; today, restored above our family winery, it welcomes those who come for the quiet, the long light over the river, and a glass of wine made from the vines below.

This is Casa da Viña.

The Experience

Silence, stone, and the long evening light

The view

Terraced vines falling away beneath the terrace, and the Miño turning gold at dusk.

The silence

No traffic, no crowds. Birdsong, church bells, and wind moving through the vines.

The wine

A glass of Mencía on the terrace, made a few metres below where you sit.

The unplugging

Long dinners outdoors, slow mornings, and nowhere you need to be.

Family winery of Casa da Viña — heroic viticulture in the vineyards of Ribeira Sacra

The Winery Below

You sleep above a working family winery

The vines beneath the house have been worked by our family for generations, on slopes so steep the harvest is still carried by hand — what Ribeira Sacra calls heroic viticulture. From them we make Mencía, the region's dark, mineral red, and Godello, its bright Atlantic white.

Ask us for a tasting during your stay — a walk through the vines, the cellar, and a few glasses with the people who made them.

Mencía

Red · slate & dark fruit

Godello

The Destination

Ribeira Sacra

Casa da Viña is your base for one of Spain's most beautiful — and least crowded — corners: river canyons, thousand-year-old monasteries, and vineyards planted where it seems nothing could grow.

The Sil canyon by boat

Catamaran trips beneath 500-metre canyon walls striped with vines.

Romanesque monasteries

San Estevo de Ribas de Sil and a dozen quieter sanctuaries hidden in the forest.

Trails & viewpoints

Balcony walks along the canyon rim — Balcones de Madrid is twenty minutes away.

Kayak on the rivers

Paddle the calm stretches of the Miño and Sil between the vineyard terraces.

Wineries of the valley

Small family cellars pouring Mencía and Godello — starting with ours, downstairs.

The vendimia

Come in September and watch the harvest carried up the slopes by hand.

“We have been using Airbnb for 13 years and our stay at Casa Viña was by far the best ever… We enjoyed our vendimia experience very much — Bill trod the grapes we had harvested earlier.”
— Kate · 2026 · Airbnb
“The view from the terrace on the valley is spectacular. The slow evenings on the terrace watching the sun set are fantastic. And the way Pilar makes you feel at home… make this a truly amazing experience.”
— Sijne · August 2026 · Airbnb
“Outdoor terrace and viewpoint to enjoy incredible summer dinners… Pilar, the host, is incredibly generous with the produce from her garden. And the welcome wine they make in their winery is great.”
